My personal thoughts as I start playing the game…
It is time to wrap up many, if not all, of the Resident Evil character’s storylines and make something completely redirected with the inevitable 6th installment. Resident Evil 5 is a fun game, but there are elements from previous incarnations missing from RE5 that are sorely missed and I can’t help but hope future installments of the franchise return them.
Maybe it’s that Dead Space was such an effective gaming experience, one that reminded me of all that is…was…good in previous Resident Evil games, and I want those kinds of “horror elements” returned to the Resident Evil franchise ASAP. I know the future Wii RE releases look like they have them intact, but we’ll see. I’d hate to become ambivalent towards Resident Evil, and that is the potential regret I believe many fans may be facing.
Resident Evil 5 is epic, is fun to play and is a bit scary at times…BUT the game execution strays a little too far from the reason I’ve enjoyed playing previous RE installments. In the end, that is a nagging thought that follows me while I play RE5, one that I can’t escape.
